Do you struggle to sit comfortably for Yoga and meditation?
Sitting cross-legged on the floor is the position most associated with meditation and many people aspire to sitting like this whether or not they have a regular Yoga practice or have even sat on the floor in the last decade!
Maybe you use a rectangular Yoga block and find yourself perching with the front edge digging into the back of your thighs or perhaps you use a cushion or bolster but still struggle to get comfortable.

Step-by-step guide to sitting on the Buttafly
To support the stillness desirable for an effective Yoga and meditation practice we need to be comfortable – and the better our posture, the more likely we are to be physically at ease and relaxed.
When the natural curves of the spine are in place so that the head balances on the body with no tension in the neck or back muscles that we can be said to have good posture. The deeply placed postural muscles will work gently away in the background – so quietly we are not even aware of them. The tummy will be soft, the shoulders relaxed, the tongue and jaw free of tension and the breath unconscious and unlaboured.
When the body is comfortable, the nervous system relaxes – the ergonomic shape of the Buttafly is designed with your body in mind to help you achieve an ease and comfort not afforded by regular Yoga blocks.
2. Bend one knee, sliding your foot along the mat; wrap both hands around the shin to gently bring the heel as close as you can towards yor bottom. This locks and protects the knee
3. Slide one hand down to wrap around the ankle and the other to support the outside of the knee as you turn at the hip, bringing the leg into the cross legged position
4. Repeat with the other leg to come into a beautifully aligned sitting pose
5. Breathe into the belly and SMILE!
