Welcome to the Buttafly website.

The Buttafly is designed by Louise James, an experienced Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist and Yoga Teacher. The Buttafly seeks to address the challenge of sitting comfortably on the floor in a cross-legged position – and while originally designed for Yoga and meditation it can be used by anyone who likes to sit in this way.

In Yoga, this position is called “easy pose” But as anyone who has tried it will tell you, sitting comfortably cross-legged on the floor is not “easy” at all – especially for most of us in the West who have grown up sitting on chairs and without necessarily realising it are actually fairly stiff in the hips.

Gravity combines with this stiffness to mean that “easy pose” becomes a slouch on the floor instead – not at all comfortable and certainly not conducive to a fulfilling and enjoyable Yoga practice, and even less suitable for meditation.

May you enjoy fabulous health,

Loulou
